Lots of time, energy and money are spent each year trying close the achievement gap and to prepare more California students for high school graduation and beyond.

One program, Advancement Via Individual Determination, or AVID, has been doing just that, albeit on a relatively small scale, for almost two decades – and there are data to prove it.
